’88 Mercedes Benze 560sl

1988 MERCEDES BENZ 560SL

If you've been searching for that near perfect Mercedes 560SL, please take some time and read on.

Turned out in stunning Smoke Silver Metalic (DB702) contrasted with a flawless Burgundy (277 Mittelrot) this SL has led a charmed life and is now ready to share the love with a new and deserving owner.

The first owner of this 560SL took possession in November of 1988. He paid the proud sum of $63,410 at the Mercedes dealership "Autohaus on Edens“ in Northbrook, Il. Shortly afterwards, the car was shipped to Scottsdale, AZ where it was enjoyed by two retirees from New Jersey. The second owner, another Arizona retiree, bought the vehicle in 2003 with barely 49,000 miles on the odometer. The 560SL was his pride and joy and he drove the car as his Sunday driver until he passed away earlier this year. The Mercedes maintenance booklet shows all services from 1988 to 2002 (Schumacher Mercedes, Scottsdale and MB Motors, Phoenix). From 2002 until October of 2016 a volume of invoices provides a record of continued care and preventative maintenance.

The body and paint are in near perfect condition with excellent panel fit, closing gaps and paint finish. As you might expect, this SL comes with both tops. The soft top is in excellent condtion.

The original interior of this car is as close to new as you can get in a classic car. We have not seen an interior this nice in any 560SL with comparable mileage. The original leather seats, the carpets, and all other interior components are in outstanding condition. The tires have plenty of tread left. All functions of the original Becker radio perform flawlessly, and so does the original Hirschmann antenna.

The car comes with a complete, pristine Mercedes-Benz tool roll, all owner’s manuals, maintenance booklet and other Mercedes-Benz literature in a binder. The master key (with red dot) as well as one spare come with the car.

The Carfax shows no evidence of accidents. Along with the many records and invoices, it confirms the documented 59,750 miles, and lists several maintenance services.

While this is a low mileage investment-grade 560SL, it is meant to be enjoyed. The engine runs strong and cool, even in hot Phoenix, AZ weather. Cruising at 80mph feels effortless and it still accelerates as powerfully as it did 28 years ago.
