1958 AC Ace

THIS AC ACE WILL BE OFFERED AT THE GOODING & COMPANY SCOTTSDALE AUCTION IN JANUARY 2013

When considering the purchase of an investment quality Classic or Special Interest Motorcar, several elements must be present. Condition, Provenance and Eligibility. These three important elements will dictate the current and future value of any vintage automotive asset.

Presented here for your consideration and inspection is a 1958 AC Ace, chassis #AEX 456.

Condition: This is an original condition, 28,000 mile, LHD example of the iconic AC Ace roadster that boasts the original AC engine, #2360, and drive train components. The alloy coachwork is in exemplary condition with no evidence of previous body trauma, having received only one respray, in the original Rougen Iris livery, in its 54 year existence. The interior, with seats, dash and panels in grey leather and carpets are also all factory original, with the look, feel and patina that are Connolly and Wilton legend. The complements of original instruments have been expanded to include a period correct oil temperature gauge. The wheels have been upgraded with new Dayton Chrome plated wires, retaining the original spare wheel and soft faced hammer. All foul weather gear is present, including: original side curtains and storage bag, replacement top and tonneau, original top bows, windscreen wipers, etc.

Provenance: AEX 456 left the AC Works at Thames Ditton, England on June 21, 1958, shipped to New York, where a sale was brokered by D&H Motors of Concord, NH. The first owner, who campaigned the car at local sanctioned and hill climb events in the New England area in the early years, retained stewardship until the late eighties, when the Ace ownership was transferred to the second owner who cared for the car for several years before selling it to the 3rd owner in Omaha, NE. After a few years the car was sold to a local Doctor, in Omaha, as part of his collection until it was purchased by the current owner. It has been maintained as part of an eclectic collection of vehicles in the Scottsdale, AZ area, and driven a total of some 200 miles in the past several years. It was recently entered and judged at the prestigious “Wheels of Britain” car show where it won its class in the ‘Post 1956 Classics’.

Eligibility: The AC Ace is eligible for most vintage motorsports tours, rallies and events around the world, including the Mille Miglia, California Mille, Colorado Grand, Laguna Seca Historic Races, and The Goodwood Revival, to name a few.
